You Do Not Have To Forgive

The events in South Carolina have angered me on several levels. I am angry at the acts of Dylann Roof and I am angry that people are wishing he would end up in a "paradise" and they are forgiving him. Religion has caused society a lot of harm, but the lie of forgiveness is a huge atrocity. I am angered that the families and loved ones of the victims feel that is is necessary to forgive the person that wronged them in the worst way possible. People need to know that they do not have to forgive someone that wronged them. It is perfectly ok to hate someone or be angry. You also do not have to wish that person well or that they repent for their sins. You are giving them a pass and a clear conscience.
