The Charleston Business Podcast is the brainchild of Joel Goobich, President of Big Picture Advisors . It has been something that he has been wanting to do for some time in order to provide an avenue to bring a different perspective on what's going on in the Charleston SC business community. Rondi Charlston is a vocalist and songwriter from New York.
Rondi Charleston grew up in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, the daughter of an English professor father and voice teacher/singer mother. Her father, a jazz enthusiast, played jazz piano, and took her to a performance by Duke Ellington, where she met the man. After performing as a guest artist with the University of Chicago's theatre program, she enrolled at Juilliard as a theatre major, but soon transferred to music. She also studied journalism at New York University, desiring to work with Charles Kuralt. While in school, she discovered a Metropolitan Transit Authority cover-up that claimed a train crash was caused by an engineer high on illegal drugs, when no illegal drugs were in his system, according to the coroner's report. ABC News hired her when she broke the story; she went on to work with Diane Sawyer on Prime Time Live for almost seven years, earning Peabody and Emmy Awards along the way.
Rondi has released a total of five albums, two of them on Motema Music: Who Knows Where the Time Goes (2011) and her current recording, Signs of Life. Her work, both on record and live, has earned her stellar critical coverage from media outlets such as DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazziz, Jazz Inside, The New York Times, Daily News, Boston Herald, and the Village Voice.
