Would it be a crime against nature for oil and water to mix?  A crime against physical laws, perhaps if a moral judgment were placed upon it.  But this mixing is a crime, saith the Lord:
 
168 For this purpose did I the Lord God place the barrier of color to separate Shem, my chosen, through whom the promises and the blessings made unto the Fathers were preserved. 169 And it is that a skin of blackness was placed upon Ham and his seed, which thing hath always followed them who be apostates from the Holy Priesthood after the Order of the Son of God*. The Revelations of Jesus Christ, Section 2.
Abraham Lincoln recognized this problem: "I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races; I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor qualifying them to hold office .... I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will ever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality." (Race and Reason, Putnam, p. 8-9)
New York Daily Tribune (August 15, 1862) is as follows: This afternoon the President of the United States gave audience to a committee of colored men at the White House.
Why, he asked, should the people of your race be colonized, and where? Why should they leave this country? We have between us a broader difference than exists between almost any other two races. Whether it is right or wrong I need not discuss, but this physical difference is a great disadvantage to us both, as I think your race suffers very greatly, many of them by living among us, while ours suffers from your presence. In a word, we suffer on each side. If this is admitted, it affords a reason at least why we should be separated.
