Gift of discernment of spirits necessary for a judge in Israel, so that wolves in sheep's clothing, who are ravening wolves within, but who wear habiliments of the Priesthood outwardly may be detected.  e.g. Brigham Young discerned spirit of Sydney Rigdon, who was described as having the instability and subsequent delusion of great flights of imagination and then plunging down into vallies of depression.

36 For, verily I say that the rebellious are not of the blood of Ephraim, wherefore they shall be plucked out. (D&C  64:36-41)

37 Behold, I, the Lord, have made my church in these last days like unto a judge sitting on a hill, or in a high place, to judge the nations.
38 For it shall come to pass that the inhabitants of Zion shall judge all things pertaining to Zion.
39 And liars and hypocrites shall be proved by them, and they who are not apostles and prophets shall be known.
40 And even the bishop, who is a judge, and his counselors, if they are not faithful in their stewardships shall be condemned, and others shall be planted in their stead.
41 For, behold, I say unto you that Zion shall flourish, and the glory of the Lord shall be upon her;(D&C  64:36-41)

30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.

(Ex  28:30)

63 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

(Ezra  2:63)
