Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law has caused many people an untimely death; most recently, the case of Trayvon Martin who was shot down by George Zimmerman. Martin was unarmed, but was shot in what is being called "self defense" because Zimmerman feared for his life. Martin on the other hand, even if he was aggressive had no way to defend himself against an armed individual. He never stood a chance.
