A couple of weeks ago a genealogist named Sue De Mers contacted me about a picture I posted on Preserving Our History in Tangipahoa & St. Helena Parishes, Louisiana facebook page. Sue De Mers may have a genealogical connection Susie Amacker Washington who claimed to be one hundred years old with the Kentwood Ledger published a story on her. Susie was born in 1840 and died in 1957. When interviewed in by the Kentwood Ledger, Susie spoke with strong convictions of things that took place before and immediatley after the Civil War. . She was born near Kentwood in 1840. Her "Old Master" was Avery Quillian who farmed and owned a sawmill and gin. Please join host Antoinette Harrell and her special guest Sue De Mers for this upcoming discussion on her Louisiana Roots.
