In many states, the process of transferring property at death is referred to as probate; in Louisiana, that process is typically called a succession. Every family who inherit property, real estate, personal property and othe possesion should open a succession on their deceased loved one. In a succession, a list is made or all the asset and debts that the deceased's owned. A petition is filed asking the judge to put the deceased's heir in possession of the assets decribled in the list.
