When it seemed that Baltimore State's Attorney, Marilyn Mosby had an iron-clad case against the 6 BPD officers, in the death of Freddie Gray, information has surfaced, which seeks to render her decision to bypass the Grand Jury process as rushed and devoid of legal basis.

While the circumstances around Gray's death remain unclear, a key point in this, is the knife he was carrying, and whether or not it was a violation of the law.

Attorney Mosby maintained publicly, that the knife was not a violation of Maryland law, but not only might this not be the case, but it could very well be, it violated Baltimore law, which would take precedent. This does however highlight the dynamic between state and local ordinances and policies, which plays itself out for example, when the issue is the right to bear firearms.

Al Sharpton visited Baltimore, as well as the newly appointed U.S. Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, who has been asked by the Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, to conduct an investigation of its police force, in the midst of allegations of serious civil and illegal violations.

I would only hope, though wouldn't be surprised, if Al Sharpton's presence, in his role as an "advisor", has not been a factor in this request. If so, this speaks to my clear and unwavering view that he is an impediment to progress, and will continue to be so, as long as black America is naive and deluded enough to take him seriously.

The fact does remain, that Freddie Gray died, in a manner that many find troubling; he, being targeted, pursued and manhandled, because of his race.

Time will tell what will happen during and after the trial of the 6 BPD officers, and of course, the bigger issue of the state of existence of the residents of Baltimore, which already has undergone a very volatile period, from which we hope it can rebound.
