When the government paid single mothers surival money to take care of their children, the stipulation was that the woman could not have a husband. This system, known as Welfare, had the effect of chasing fathers out of the home. Four gnerations later, the efects have been devastating. In other countries, men are paid a stipend when they marry and have children, which is an incentive for men to marry and take care of their children. In the U.S., the laws have done just the opposite. Today, our goal is to create the wording for a new law to be presented to Federal and State legislative bodies, which would encourage family cohesion, and give monetary incentives to couples who agree to extend their families to include other orphaned children. For those whose religions give permission and guidelines, under the First Amendment rights to freedom of religion, couples may consent to extend their families to include single or widowed women. In the weeks to come, we will invite Congressional representatives and State legislators to the show to discuss the strategy for presenting this legislation, which will encourage the rebuilding of family structures. Like the "Marriage Equality Act" this law could be called "The Extended Family Act." What are your ideas?
