Should black folks be confident in the United States Economy? Is the bottom ready to fall out in the economy? Should black folks be thinking any different from other Americans. Just when you think confidence can’t go any lower, the bottom falls out of it, and you can be sure the rest of the economy is not far behind. While all of America is hurting from tough economic times, Black Americans are suffering at a rate far worse. The Washington, D.C.-based Economic Policy Institute has concluded that virtually all of the economic gains established by African Americans during the Clinton administration have deteriorated – that includes wages for Black workers, incomes and jobs – and poverty among Blacks has risen notably. The Black unemployment rate continues to rise faster than the overall rate. Is there any hope for black America? What can President Barack Obama say or do?
