Sara Caldwell is both a teacher, an independent filmmaker/stop-motion animator and a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA). She is a lecturer for Film and Media Studies at UC Santa Barbara and a digital media instructor at College of the Canyons (COC) in Santa Clarita, CA, primarily teaching film production and screenwriting courses. Sara has won numerous awards including Best Original Screenplay at the Los Angeles International Film Festival (LAIFF), Burbank International Film Festival, NOLA Horror Film Festival, and the Cannes Screenplay Contest; and Best Animated Short at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival, the Los Angeles Short Film Festival and the Madrid International Film Festival.

Captain Brent Burton (RET) With 36 years of service and plans to retire soon, Fire Captain Brent Burton has spent his career advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion. “I think we have come a long way in many respects, but we still have a long way to go,” said Captain Burton. “I hope that we learn to embrace and celebrate our differences rather than push back against them and take the time to really understand our history and how we have arrived to where we are today.” Helping people is what motivated Captain Burton to pursue a lifelong career in the fire service. He was inspired by those who came before him. “I did my best to continue the work that others have envisioned,” said Captain Burton. “I stand on the shoulders of giants! From the first two Black firefighters in the 1950s (James L. Garcia, Jr. and Van Davis) to the first Black man to promote here (Hershel Clady) and the first Black paramedic here (Ed McFaul). These men were the true trailblazers!” To do his part in promoting diversity and inclusion at the Department, Captain Burton managed the Recruitment Unit after it had been disbanded. “As the Recruitment Unit captain, we were able to create programs, such as the first Girls’ Fire Camp in Southern California, the Women’s Fire Prep Academy, the Public Safety Prep Program, and the Future Fire Program for high school students.”

So every month the calendar is full of some important dates to remember and some really interesting and different Observances. Theses accuracies happen every month but for tonite we're focusing on this, the last week of May 2024.
Earlier this month we had Mother's Day but before that was Cinco De Mayo where everyone including black people are Mexican for at least a day. Lol
There are some Observances that happen only in the United States but there are a few that are international that occur and are celebrated by some Americans as well.
So come on in the room and let's talk about some of the more Interesting ones like Hamburger Day plus Masturbation Day or more commonly known as self love day are all celebrated on May 28th.
We're going to get into that and a few other important and fun facts about the holidays and observances this of this month
