At its height, Marcus Garvey's UNIA organization claimed millions of Black people internationally. He had freight ships. He had newspapers. He had an army. He also had all of his closest members reporting his every move to the FBI, a governmental investigative bureau created specifically because of Garvey and his efforts toward Black liberation. In the end it was his inner circle that left him deported, depressed , and without a dime in Jamaica. #MalcolmX, who captured the minds and hearts of the people globally and was able to strong arm even the police with the might of the Nation Of Islam was tragically gun down in front of his wife, children, and room full of "supporters" by people who also claimed to be Islamic too. The truth is Black people have been taught that in order to gain freedom we need every Black Tom, Dick, and Harry (and a couple bleeding heart pinks) on our side. Why are Black people the only group that must be approved by everybody else to get it popping politically?
