_____In the same sense that all women are human, but not all humans are women, it is true that while our obedience to God cannot earn us our salvation, dis-obedience to God, can cost us our salvation. The refutation of "salvation by works" does not constitute the affirmation of "salvation in sin". . . Both doctrines are erroneous. (1) salvation by works, and (2) salvation in sin, are the two great counterfeit systems of worship that are uncovered and revealed in the three angels' messages. Many, without realizing it, have embraced one of these two errors and are trying to build their salvation upon it -- an utterly impossible feat. We are saved by grace. But, we are judged by our actions, as to whether or not we have received the grace of God by faith through sanctification and obedience to the truth, or spurned God's grace through dis-obedience. The author of Hebrews made this abundantly clear in - Heb 10:26 "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins" and Heb 5:9 "being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" In 1 John 2:3 we hear the apostle say "hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments." The phrase "know that we know" indicates that the apostle John believed that this distinct point of doctrine is (THE LITMUS TEST) the one, true, validating test that we can rely on to have confidence in, as to whether or not we know Jesus. Do we keep His commandments? The Lord Himself, when speaking to a rich young ruler said "if you will enter into life, keep the commandments". - Matt 19:17. - Jesus summed it all up in 3 little words, "KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS". That is as crystal clear as it gets. Don't be fooled by false doctrine on this point. . . .
