Gene Simmons of KISS and Mike Zislis, Talk ROCKToberfest

Our guests this morning are Michael Zislis and Gene Simmons.

Mike – a frequent and favorite guest here on the show - is a South Bay native and has been brewing beer since he was thirteen years old. He’s successfully turned his fascination with it into a flourishing collection of breweries and restaurants located throughout the South Bay.

From the Manhattan Beach Brewery to Mucho Ultima Mexicana, Brewco and The Strand House, Zislis has a winning formula. He is the also the guy behind the fashionable boutique hotel, Shade Manhattan Beach, and the new Shade Redondo Beach which is scheduled to begin construction later this year.

We all know Gene Simmons, legendary KISS front man and star of Family Jewels but did you know he’s also in the restaurant business? Gene knows a little something about nightlife and has brought his rock and roll world to a local, rock-themed eatery.

El Segundo is just the beginning – Rock & Brews is scheduled to open at LAX and they are already looking at locations in downtown, Redlands, Tokyo and Denver.

In the meantime, Gene and Mike are bringing their burgeoning beer empire to downtown LA for a week in October. The KISS leader and restaurant and hotel impresario along with celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will stage a seven-day Rocktoberfest celebration at downtown’s L.A. Live.

The celebration will kick off October 15th with a fundraiser benefiting the Wounded Warriors Project.

You can bet these guys will take the traditional Ocktoberfest to a whole new level.
