As men, we witness the joys of pregnancy and birth. While we are surely part of it from conception to birth, we don’t feel the changes a woman’s body goes through. At the same time, we are affected by those changes. In most cases, we want to protect our woman from any pain and discomfort. Except, being there for her may be the most we can offer to alleviate the pain.

However, when it comes to postpartum depression, we can be caught off guard. We expect our woman to feel joy over a newborn. Yet, she is distant from the child and she is showing other signs that we are not qualified to handle. Some men even consider abandoning the relationship. Therefore, it is imperative that a man be able to read the signs and symptoms and reach out for the proper support.

On this show, we are going to have a guest. Her name is Dr. Anita Kay Martin. She has been an OB/GYN for 30 years. In a nutshell, she has seen it all. She will talk about the things a man can do to support his woman through postpartum depression.

In addition: there are men who also go through postpartum depression. Where do men go when they need support? Men need to understand the symptoms in themselves and know the proper channels for support.

We encourage men and women who have gone through these challenging times during and after pregnancy. For those going through it now, we encourage you to call so you can have a clearer understanding and learn how to work through it.

Tonight, Sunday, July 7th, from 7:00pm-8:30pm (EST) at 'Straight Talk' with Ted Santos and Blair Nash.
