Was that flag red?

A great many of us have had people in our lives that got closer to us than they should have been able to and in most cases there were clues or hints that gave warning. So why do otherwise intelligent people get involved with someone who is up to no good?  "I can change him", "she ain't no good but she good to me", we've heard them all and yet we still get fooled.
