It appears that the way many of us grew up is much different from the way children and teens are growing up today. Being a mother can be challenging yet rewarding. The role of a mother is something that should not be taken for granted. What I also noticed is the role of the neighborhood mothers. The neighborhood mothers are the ones that not only raised their children but also played a role in parenting the other children in the neighborhood. It seems like that is missing in many communities.

In honor of neighborhood mothers join me as I honor two mothers on their birthday Jean Brooks-Sistrunk and Rosie Lee Sistrunk-Hightower. If you grew up in Compton, CA before the 90's they were mothers that many have had an encounter with whether it was good or bad. I love and miss them dearly. Lets celebrate their birthday and talk about other neighborhood mothers. Live 10/17/22 at 12pm Pacific. Hosted by Jeanette Abney LMFT. To join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914.
