What better way to celebrate the 100th episode of the Partnerunning Show than inviting a member of the family to be our special guest?

Especially when Sue's uncle, Ron Clarke AO, MBE is one of the world's greatest runners of all time. Ron set 19 world records (often reported as 17 as two were set and set again on the same day) for distances including:

  • 2 miles
  • 3 miles
  • 5000 metres
  • 6 miles
  • 10,000 metres
  • 10 miles
  • 20 kms
  • 1 hour

Ron grew up chasing Sue's father Jack around the streets of Essendon where Jack became an AFL legend as captain of the Bombers.

In many career highlights Ron became a symbol of the 1956 Olympics as he carried the torch in the final stage.

Following his running career Ron has been busy with a highly successful international business career and when we caught up with him on the Gold Coast he had recently completed two terms as Mayor of the Gold Coast City Council.

A popular author and thought leader Ron provides valuable insights into both run and human performance and success.
