Do men talk in code? If so how do women know

It was recently mentioned to me by a FEMALE friend that MEN speak in "CODE". I asked what do you mean after I repeated a conversation I just had with a MALE friend. She went on to explain how certain things he said really meant others things for me to get, "Signals" if you will. I pride myself in being a fairly intelligent woman, but as she explained this it occured to me that I had NO CLUE about "Man Speak" as she put it. Question to ANY & ALL MEN or Women who relate to this topic. Do men speak in a certain language where as women we are to understand how or what they are truly saying to us? P.S. The ENGLISH language is being used...LOL
