Judge Amy Coney Barrett has been vilified by those of us on the political left for her anti-feminist views as espoused by her lifelong membership in an ultra-fundamentalist sect of Catholicism called the People of Praise. While this is a legitimate concern; the corporate media evaded another political 'red flag' until five days ago--and that is Judge Amy's long standing, intimate family ties to Big Oil. Only Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse approached this serious conflict of interest. The history deals with Judge Amy's father. Apparently, her father was a central attorney with Royal Dutch Shell. Now, it is recognized that Judge Amy did recuse herself from cases involving Royal Dutch Shell SPECFICALLY from her bench on the 7th circuit--BUT that recusal was required by law in her home state. It should also be noted that Judge Amy did NOT recuse herself from any other cases involving the fossil fuel industry--including the American Petroleum Institute. It should be noted that her father has been a central figure in the American Petroleum Institute--a clear conflict of interest. This semantic hair splitting demonstrates a clear lack of integrity and principle on Judge Amy's part. She is far too intelligent to NOT comprehend this conlfict of interest. It is also clear that she learned her lessons well from her mentor Antonin Scalia--that the letter of the law--no matter how petty--is more important than the spirit of the law--and that is to her shame. It is this myopic view of the law that allows such technically 'legal' obscenities such as 'enhanced interrogation' aka TORTURE--to become legal.

This report will investigate Judge Amy, her ties to the fossil fuel industry, her semantic hair-splitting and how it provides legal cover for environmental corporate criminals. It will also look into the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of originalist interpretation of the Constitution.
