The Nat Turner Library was founded by Elder H. Khalif Khalifah along with his late wife Sister Reda.  Elder Khalifah is known as the 'Father of Independent Black Publishing' as he published Black authors in the 70s and 80s when no other mainstream publishers would.  The Nat Turner Library sits on 123 acres of a part of Nat Turner's ancestral birthland in Southampton County, VA.  This institution has been serving the community for 21 years providing a cultural haven for lectures, book signings, music festivals, summer camp, and annual celebrations like Nat Turner Day, Ancestors Day and the Black Books Achievement Awards which is having its 26th annual celebration weekend on Saturday, June 1st to honor Black authors for their literary contributions to Black life, history and culture. On day two is METAPHYSICAL Sunday "Crystals, Orgone Energy and the Power of I AM" with guest presenters; Brother Hankh Rising Sun, Sister Majade Bey and Brother Ras Ben.

Angela is the daughter-in-law of Elder Khalifah.  She works as one of the coordinator's of the Black Books Awards, along with Nadirah Khalifah, and is a promoter of Nat Turner's legacy through the Nat Turner Library.  She shares with the world the importance of keeping the land in Black hands and encourages families to visit this sacred ancestral land.  Also initiates fundraising to maintain, preserve and protect this land.
