Ramadan, like any other lunar month, can be 29 or 30 days. This can be confusing to some— even Muslims. The closest comparison I can think of is the leap years and leap months of the Gregorian Calendar.

correction: At one point it was said a leap year is calculated by adding a year to a year. Obviously, that was a mistake. Instead of adding a year to a year, you are adding a day to a year.
