November is National Diabetes Month. Type 2 Diabetes is quickly approaching epidemic levels. Karyn talks about the disease, what is it, how can it be prevented, living with it and dying from it. Complications from diabetes robbed Karyn of her mother when she was just 15 years old. Her father lives and manages the disease right now. The tragedy of Type 2 Diabetes is that it is largely preventable.

Musician Derrick Pearson has pursued a successful career in music for decades. When his good friend and frequent collaborator Al Johnson died of complications from diabetes, he knew he had to do something. The result is It’s Alright, his personal homage from Derrick Pearson to his friend. The collection features vocals by Johnson, including a cover of Marvin Gaye’s spiritual God is my Friend.
