One in five high school students say they have experienced bullying. The numbers are slightly higher for junior high students. The effects of bullying go far beyond the cafeteria or classroom. Depression, isolation, and anxiety follow the victims into adulthood.
Teacher, mother, author and former bullying victim Tiffany Haisten has turned her experiences being bullied for her red hair into a children's book, Red is the Color of ... which encourages kids to embrace and celebrate differences instead of bully and ostracize others because of them.
On tonight's show, Tiffany discusses the causes and effects of bullying. More importantly, she discusses what we all can do - as parents, educators and students - to help the person being bullied and deal with the bully themselves.
