The Fighter's Voice w Don McGuire

Cody Haller -

Even before the COVID-19 lockdown occurred, the 34-year-old laid off oilfield worker was concerned about the erosion of freedom in Canada - so much so that he left his wife and four young children on Mother’s Day to express his concerns publicly in front of the legislative building.I’m extremely concerned about the lockdown and the impact it has on our freedoms, as well as the negative implications that it most certainly has on our economy.

We don’t need more laws to enshrine our freedoms - “I don’t believe that our rights come from a piece of paper, I believe that our Charter of Rights and Freedoms was written to restrict the government from infringing upon those rights and freedoms. The government had better have a really good reason if they’re going to violate those inherent rights that far too many Canadian people have fought and died for.

However interested I have been in politics, I have never voted in my life due to a lack of faith and mistrust in our current system. I have decided to attempt to get directly involved and focus on solutions to some major issues that we are facing in society. I believe that making positive local changes to be a great place to start, I hope to bring with me a younger perspective and ideas to rejuvenate public involvement which would foster a stronger and more resilient community. Appealing to the youth, future generations is absolutely necessary to lay the foundations for a prosperous and evolving community.

This being such an exciting time in human history, we have the chance to collectively change the world for the better and to cultivate our future generations into informed and motivated members of society. Driven to be the change that we want to see, starting with the community that we call home.
