I was born in New York City, back in the good old days, when Times Square was full of proper hookers and lowlifes.

I spent my youth living right here in the suburbs of Washington, DC, only to flee the east coast for the mountains of Colorado for college. After college, I spent the better part of a decade living in Northern California and Portland, Oregon. No, I did not base my decisions on where to live solely upon their proximity to the best wine, seafood, and micro-breweries. I also liked the rain and constant damp chills.

In 1997, I moved back to the east coast largely to chase down and woo a pretty lady who I was fortunate enough to marry back in 2002.  We have two daughters (one of whom is currently speaking to me).

For seven years, I worked in a boutique lottery finance company that I call, “The Firm.”  I don’t use their real name because they weren’t exactly fans of my first book, Money For Nothing- One Man's Journey Through the Darkside of Lottery Millions. So, these days, we stay out of each other’s way and pretend as if the whole thing never happened. The Firm’s kinda like having an ex-wife who hates you but still lives right up the street.  Good times.

My second book, I’m With Fatty: Losing Fifty Pounds in Fifty Miserable Weeks came out in the fall of 2010. It chronicles the year I spent trying to lose weight and get back in fighting shape after so many years of sitting around eating anything that wasn’t nailed to the wall.  Being a food lover, the book is really about my struggle to create a healthier relationship with food.  In the end, when you cut through a lot of the window dressing, it’s about addiction.  I’m a food addict.  There, I said it…what are you looking at?!
