At the very least sports has put a spotlight on the prevalence and heartbreaking consequences of child abuse. The question now is, will fans and citizens take the next step and, not just acknowledge the problem, but, do a better job of preventing it in the future to benefit all kids?

Odds are that either you or someone you love could be battling the impact of child abuse. In the United States there are 3 million new child abuse cases every year. How do you cope with such trauma? Is there a way to take back your life despite your past?

We know that sports can bring the opportunity to experience success, to learn about teamwork and decision-making as well as developing personal tools for healthy living. But we also know that, unfortunately, too many children and young athletes have suffered from abuse by an unscrupulous coach or others, who attempt to diminish the goals and aspirations of a young athlete to satisfy their own purpose.

Dr. Adam Zolotor of University of North Carolina dispenses advice, information and knowledge from the medical perspective for victims of sexual abuse. Listen and call in LIVE on Wednesday May 29th, @ 7PM EST at BEYONDtheCheers on blogtalkradio. Dial-in TOLL FREE 1-877-357-2448 in Canada and United States to ask a question, or email in advance.
