What are my son’s  odds of making the National Hockey League? Statistics from 2002 said that 132 of every 22,000 players make it to a NHL or NHL feeder team. This translates to 6 of every thousand hockey players and out of the 132, only 7 of them actually play in the NHL.

Parents believe that if their kid is an elite level player in his league, he’s destined to make the NHL – even though there might be about 2,000 or more players, similar in calibre, like their son.

Certainly, it makes one wonder if a 15 year investment into minor and junior hockey is paying off. Is the daily 3-hour trip to play for another team really worth all the time, effort and investment?

Let’s put the pro level on the hotplate to dispel the myths, rumours and stories. What do your really want to know about the reality of making it to the pro level? Joining us LIVE is Jim Parcels Wednesday September 9th @ 7PM EST at BEYONDtheCheers on blogtalkradio.
