The KIDSTRONGprogram is a school outreach that promotes physical and mental fitness, self-esteem, nutrition, commitment and the rewards of community participation in today’s youth.

Facts:

  • Children should participate in 60minutes of physical activity per day (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology)
  • There is increasing evidence that we are raising a generation of kids that will NOT outlive their parents due to obesity and related illnesses
  • 14% of students in grades 7 to 11 had self-injured at some time with skin cutting being the most common form (Journal of youth and adolescence, 2002)
  • 36% of Canadian students reported being victims of bullying (Public Health Agency of Canada)

When we make the decision to change to a healthier lifestyle, we are often overwhelmed - “Too difficult, too much to change.” The best approach is to take one step at a time.
