A high school footballplayer may receive 650 sub-concussive hits in a season, more than 2,500 in a four-year stint on the team.

Football collisions can generate more than 100 g- force (imagine a car hitting a concrete wall at 25 miles per hour). The greater the weight and speed, of the athlete, the higher the g-forces.

Statistic:70% of concussions in soccer are from player-to-player contact.

Researchers estimate that 90% of injuries are predictable and preventable. Helmets are effective for cyclists of all ages and for all types of crashes. When worn properly, helmets reduce risks for brain injury by 88%.

ThinkFirstis a national non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of brain and spinal cord injuries. ThinkFirst teaches school-aged children and youth, sports teams, and community volunteers, to safely participate in the activities they enjoy.
