THE FEMALE VETERAN: HOMELESS WITH A DIFFERENCE

Picture a veteran – a homeless veteran.  Is he tall? Short? bearded, clean shaven? Or did you picture her a woman?  What you saw in your mind probably isn’t a complete picture and it probably doesn’t reflect gender differences when it comes to vets.

Lily Casura knows all about those gender differences.  Casura, a long time journalist and veterans’ advocate, not only writes about veterans, she started the first website about combat vets and PTSD. Casura is a graduate student in public policy, has received numerous awards and honors, and is a Harvard graduate.  And she is an author, writer and lecturer on veteran’s issues.

She joins us Saturday to talk about the picture we have of veterans, especially female veterans, and the reality.
