Vernon Johnson Mwaanga is one of the seasoned and celebrated politicians Zambia has produced since its independence in October 1964. Mr Mwaanga was only twenty-five years old when he assumed his first political appointment as Zambia’s deputy ambassador to Great Britain the former colonial regime. Mr Mwaanga’s career spans over a number of decades and holding several positions ranging from cabinet minister, diplomat, newspaper Editor in Chief, national intelligence chief. He had a few years stint in the business community as chairman of the Zambian subsidiary of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) and the Zambia Industrial and Commercial Association (ZINCOM) respectively.

Mr Mwaanga joins us to discuss and analyze the current political scenario in the nation, the way forward for the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) of which he was founding member and his role in the party’s convention committee as it prepares to elect a new president. Currently he is working as a political & business consultant.
