Major Richard Kachingwe is the national secretary of the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) which was at the helm for 20 years until the recent elections on September 20, 2011. Major Kachingwe will discuss the transition the party is making to take the role of the major opposition in the nation and the impending retirement from active politics of its president, Mr Rupiah Banda. He will address the issue of growing factions within MMD and whether the party is in a financial and leadership crisis, and what is being done to regroup.
