January, 22 2011 - The Dialogue Continues.... Last week Yo Soy Latino started the conversation about alleged instigation rhetoric which some have said led led to heated divisive behavior as we saw during the Health Care debate, was it just passion? The debate over undocumented people heated up again with the rant of "THEY" are taking way American jobs and "They" are not contributing "THEY" aren't paying taxes. "THEY" are drying up our resources. Who are "THEY"? Over the Martin Luther Kings holiday weekend 18 year old Mosses Soto, was attacked and beaten while at a bonfire in the Bithlo area of Florida. The attackers where white and had made racial slurs while beating Mr. Soto "I bet I can make this spic fall down whith one blow" Soto, suffered multiple contusions, a broken nose and a broken jaw. No arrest have been made and the investigation is still pending. The activist group FRENTE UNIDO 436 who are very active within the Latino community alleged racial tensions within East River High School in the bithlo area. Are these events just singular occurences or signs of unrest, old issues rising or never gone away? To try and get some answers Yo Soy Latino interviews Laura Vasquez, of the National Council of La Raza. Rico Piccard President & Zoraida Rios-Andino Vice President of Frente Unido 436 and Joie Cadle, Orange County Florida school board member of District 1 Join Ysl's Jose Miranda & Haydee Ayala as the discussion begins.
