How serious is domestic violence in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean region? Does the idea that a victim of domestic violence somehow "deserves it" still linger? Do cultural assumptions like this serve to desensitize communities to the harm of domestic violence? Women are usually the centre of focus, but men and children also suffer from domestic violence too - why aren't their voices heard? And what is the role of the law in all of this?
