Trust is a universal yearning. We all long to trust and to be trusted, sometimes through seemingly benign omissions and more intentional secrets and yes, lies, we can experience a breakdown of trust in our relationship. Keeping secrets is a way of disengaging from the relationship, and to undo that breakdown of trust, it’s time to re-engage. Can trust be rebuilt? Certainly, but it requires active engagement and a willingness on both sides to roll up their sleeves and do some work to uncover their partner’s yearnings and delve into conflict.
