Independent policy analyst Joe Ohler finds Wisconsin's population, birth rate, and median age are not correlated with UW-Milwaukee's enrollment levels. He cites three sources to support his contentions:

1. Wisconsin Interactive Statistics on Health

2. U.S. Census Bureau

3. UW-Milwaukee Fact Book, 2015-2016

Demographic changes can therefore be ruled out as a cause of UW-Milwaukee's mistfortunes. UWM's enrollment problem is thereby one of mindshare, i.e. public relations and grassroots perception, not of the relative availability of local consumers.
