"Tonight we will continue with Soul on Ice by Eldridge Cleaver on the “INITIAL REACTION ON THE ASSASSINATION OF MALCOLM X  and what it did to the Black Community.  “In February 16, Malcolm X told James Shabazz, another aid (not to be confused with James 3X Shabazz, regional minister of the New York and Newark mosques), the the incident at the ball room made him think that some one might try to kill him before or during the next OAAU rally, which was scheduled for February the 21.  “I have the names of five Black Muslims who have been assigned to kill me,” he told Shabazz. “I will announce them at the meeting.

Two days later , on February the 18 , Malcolm X was evicted form his home in Elmhurst. That same morning a CIA agent in Richard Helmes’s office issued a memorandum with a reference number of “CSC1-316/01196-64,” and the subject matter of “EGYPTIAN FUNDING OF MALCOLM X.”  The term “CSCI” IS AN ABBREVIATION FOR CLANDESTINE SERVICES COUNTER INTELLIGENCE." "The Black Muslim movement was destroyed the moment Elijah cracked the whip over Malcolm 's head, because it was not the Black Muslim movement itself that was so irritability appealing to the true believers. It was the awaking into self-conscienceless of twenty million Negroes which was compelling.  Malcolm X articulated their aspirations better than any other man of our time. When he spoke under the banner of Elijah Muhammad he was irresistible.  If he had become a Quaker, a Catholic, or Seven-Day Adventist, or a Sammy Davis-Style Jew, and if he had continued to give voice to the mute ambitions in the black man's soul, his message still would have been triumphant: because what was great was not Malcolm X but the truth he uttered.  The truth which Malcolm uttered had vanquished the whole passel ...
