Melisa Mel – CEO/President of From Victim to Survivor and Author

-Mel’s hard work is demonstrated and evident in her empathy towards subjects such as Sexual Abuse, Human Trafficking, Special Needs, Vulnerable Populations, Victimization, Diversity, Self-Injurious behaviors, Violent Crimes, Policing, First Responder Issues, Professional Self-Care, and the LGBTQ community.

-Vulnerable populations, special circumstances, and victims of crimes touch a special place in Melisa Mel’s heart. 

-As an active member of the LGBTQ community, Mel supports many of the local activities and events in the local LGBTQ community.   She is very familiar with the LGBTQ resources and is regularly seen at all of their events.  She facilitated four of the groups at the Phoenix PRIDE Center prior to its closing earlier this year.

-After Mel’s arrival to Arizona in 2002, she taught young adults with Severe Disabilities and Severe Autism for 10 years and practiced social work at the same time. 

-Mel currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English, a Master’s degree in ESL, a second Master’s degree in Special Education and Education, and a PhD ABD in Psychology.

-Mel is currently the CEO, Founder, and President of her company “From Victim to Survivor, LLC”.  As such, she brings all her skills together as a key note speaker, workshop leader and presenter.  

-Mel is known as the “Cargo Pants Girl”. 

-Mel is a fluent Spanish speaker.

-Mel takes her services everywhere and can be found leading trainings in anywhere from Soup Kitchens and Prisons, to Domestic Violence Shelters and Business Conference Rooms, to Police Departments and the FBI.  There are no limitations to the outreach that Mel does.
