"[Jhn 15:7 KJV] 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

"It has taken us 2 generations to get to the word instead of religion. But he said abide in me and in my word."

In John 15 he talks about the brance being connected to the vine, abiding in the vine.
