In the Biblical reading Derrick was doing, he kept seeing the word woe over and over again. Suddenly, the word was all around him. In the dictionary “woe” is really any form of deep distress or misery. He realized a woe is different for everybody. He had an unconscious fascination with the word. He wrote it down, & thought of the different miseries people endured. He asked himself, "What if you could create something positive out of your woes?" Taking the letters apart, it went from woe to Word Of Encouragement!
He says:“I met Kim during her visit to Atlanta. We began a long distance relationship. She was who I shared my day & stories with. One thing that kept us together was giving each other W.O.E.s. On the phone at the end of our day, we’d say something like ‘I need my W.O.E. for the night.’ It was usually a scripture or a funny story.
