On the Thursday, September 24th, 2009 broadcast, we're continuing our journey into the art of metalsmithing, and jewelry making. My guest is Lewis Barnes, see: http://www.weddingringworkshop.com/ for more information. Lewis is the owner/operator of Wedding Ring Workshop USA and describes the experience as follows:, 'The process of creating a ring from precious metals like gold, white gold or platinum, is very different than you might think. One common misconception of working with precious metals is that you work with the metals when they are hot, as when working with iron. Most people see blacksmiths and other metal workers pounding red-hot metal and think they are going to have to do the same. But, with precious metals, although you heat the metal from time to time, the hammering and milling are all done when the metal is cool to the touch. The biggest fear we hear expressed is ”I will mess it up”, or “I’m too nervous to do that, I have never worked with metal before”. But you are NOT alone!' Disclosure: I am the licensee for Wedding Ring Workshop in Southern California. Please join Lewis and I for what is likely to be a fun and informative conversation.
