A transsexual is a person in which the sex-related structures of the brain that define gender identity are exactly opposite the physical sex organs of the body. Put even more simply, a transsexual is a mind that is literally, physically, trapped in a body of the opposite sex.
Julie Chovanes was born a male who plays flag football as a trans woman in women's flag football leagues. We ran Julie's story in our: Fall-Winter 2015 Forward Pass Issue, which you can read and download at: http://www.registration-iwffa.com/FowardPassMagazine.html
Julie has always been an athlete, is an accomplished lawyer, father, husband and coach
Julie describes her life with us, from the beginning, when she realized she was not a boy, but in fact a girl. She was not a "brother", but a "sister" to the rest of her siblings.
We hear Julie's experiences playing against: straight men and women, as well as LGBT: lesbians, gays, bi-sexual, transgender . Julie explains whether she has an advantage playing flag football today in women's flag football competitions.
This interview with Julie, is the first of a series. We ask you to listen and share your thoughts.
