In Tyler Perry's adaptation of the movie "For Colored Girls", the BLACK MEN in the film consisted of a RAPIST, a THIEF, an ABUSER who murdered his own kids, a PIMP, and a brother on the DOWN LOW. Black PEOPLE are thirteen percent of the population of the United States. Black MEN in the United States make up about six percent of the population. Given the paltry number of this demographic, are Black men an easy group for HOLLYWOOD and the MEDIA to stereotype? Does the movie "For Colored Girls" provide a fair representation as to WHO AND WHAT BLACK MEN ARE? Did you see your FATHER, HUSBAND, BROTHER or SON in the movie? Does art indeed imitate life or does Hollywood and the media have it BACKWARDS and UNFAIRLY perpetuate a stereotype detrimental to BLACK AMERICAN MEN? The Summit will held on the BRIDGE Thursday night at 9pm EST. Call in and take the mic. (646) 381-4789
