She graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. She wrote for a monthly newspaper in Danville, VA for one year before moving to Roanoke, VA where she spent three years doing news for WSLC AM and WSLQ FM Radio Stations. She worked a part time job for WDBJ TV in Roanoke. She produced and later hosted a talk show for that station when the News Director got the bright idea to hire her as a weekend news anchor and weekday reporter. She did that for two years when she was hired at WGR TV in Buffalo, NY. She worked there 2 yrs and was hired by WXIA TV in Atlanta, GA. She worked there for 10 years.
