Tune to special guest Dr. Ivye L. Allen the President of The Foundation for the Mid South.  Ms. Allen was featured in the January 17, 2011, edition of Forbes magazine and discussed how the small organization is making a big difference in Arkansas, Louisiana. Established through a collaboration between the public and private sectors, the Foundation of the Mid South is one of the leading organizations in the region successfully leveraging people and resources to expand social and economic opportunity.

Some of the Foundation’s recent efforts are aimed at improving the economy and job creation through workforce development and training with  strategic partners such as the National Coalition of Women of Color in Construction,Inc. located in Metro Atlanta  and Wider Opportunities for Women located in Washington D.C  These issues were addressed at a recent Green Southeast Institute  in Birmingham  Alabama where Dr. Allen spoke about G.R.E.E.N. Generating  Real Economic Equilty Now .

 

Efforts to create Green Collar Jobs are gaining momentum and support in Arkansas, Louisiana  and Mississippi.  A growing green economy will mean more jobs in the region and help low to moderate income families become more financially secure.
