NCWCC Interview with Selina Bean Co Founder of HOPE

VISION: The Vision at H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention is that every individual and family has the opportunity to live the American Dream of having an affordable Safe and decent place to live. GOALS: Our Goals are to provide quality housing programs that support the transition from Homelessness to Home Ownership giving all individuals and families the opportunity to dream. OBJECTIVE: It is our objective is to ensure that these individuals and families remain in and sustain their homes for years to come. HISTORY: H.O.P.E. Through Divine Internvention, Inc., was established in 2001 in response to the sudden increase of chronic homeless cases in the Metro Atlanta Area. Co-founders, Jake Curtis and Selina Beene recognized the growth in homeless individuals in need of treatment and housing and the need to provide housing for individuals waiting to ger into transitional programs and treatment centers. In 2001, H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention, Inc., began with 12 transitional housing beds providing housing to the chronically homeless Men with special needs; Substance Abuse, Mental Health and HIV/AIDS. In 2003, HTDI was licensed by Department of Human Services-Office of Regulartory Services as a Specialized Day Time Treatment Programs. Late 2003, Accredited by GARR, Georgia Association for Recovery Residence. In 2005, HTDI expanded its transitional housing program from 12 beds to 21 beds and launched its Open Arms Program which provides housing and supportive services to 9 Transgendered (MTF) individuals living with HIV/AIDS. In 2007, HTDI approved United Way Supportive Housing Provider , awarded grant of 1.5 Million-Homeless Opportunity Fund through City of Atlanta, Mayor Shirley Franklin, administrator by Atlanta Development Authority, supported by Atlanta Housing Authority, Permanent financing Capitol City Bank and supportive services-United Way Regional Commission on Homelessness.
