Catherine Tyson is a proud mother of 3 fabulous children who have inspired her debut work of being Somebody’s Mama.She has a Master’s degree in Social Work and is a trained counselor whose life work has been with vulnerable individuals around the globe.In December 2008, she spear headed a woman's seminar, “Me in My Life” that focuses on women finding time for themselves amongst the chaos of life itself which has become an annual event. Tyson is also the founder of “Generation Next’, which comprises of children living in the trailer houses that were established in 2005 to address the serious housing problem caused by Hurricane Ivan. She seeks to provide Generation Next with a range of experiences that they have never been exposed to and getting to appreciate how the world is like outside Grand Cayman including annual summer trips abroad to various destinations. Amongst other things, Catherine also co-hosts a radio talk show “Talk Today” on one of Cayman’s radio stations – FM 89.9 Radio Cayman at 12:30PM weekdays. www.radiocayman.ky. An avid reader, she can often be found, on her down time (whenever that may be) curled up with a good book or watching Law and Order. One of her favourite authors is Mitch Albom who wrote The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day and Tuesdays with Morrie (not in that order). She is also a Tracy Chapman fanatic. When not reading, or watching TV she is observing people and taking notes. She is part of a team of professional and qualified international and local facilitators for the Chamber of Commerce, who lead seminars, conferences and customized in-house CT
