What do Paul Revere, Edward Snowden, George Washington and Bradley Manning all have in common?

Had Paul Revere not sounded the alarm would America have lost the opportunity for independence; would the Crown have executed him as a traitor had he been caught?  What was the motivation behind Manning's desire to reveal the atrocity of deliberate civilian assignations and manipulation of foreign leadership by our own military?

George Washington wanted freedom for America; freedom from unreasonable search & seizure; taxes with no say so as to how those monies would be used or spent. How is that so different from what Edward Snowden did?  Would any of these unconstitutional movements by our government agencies have come to light had it not been for Julian Assange of Wikileaks?

Should the dissemination of information that is opposition to existing governance against the intentions of our Founding Fathers be favored or prosecuted or praised.

Freedom, challenge, enlightenment, reform, compromise, confession, renewal - none of these happen easily.  My mother often reminded me that truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable; and so it is with the present-day dissention in support of hope and change of American way.
