Sin carries consequences and some of those can last a long time, if not forever. Consider King David in today's lesson. The ruler abused his power and slept with Bathsheba, the wife of one of his dedicated soldiers. David allowed lust to drive him to murder and an attempted cover-up. God was angry at David's sins. When the prophet Nathan confronted David, he confessed and repented. God heard his prayer, but David had to suffer the consequences. Israel's enemy showed contempt for them and David's first child born to Bathsheba died. Sins carry a very high price tag.
